The Black British Book Festival (BBBF) partnered for the first time with the Hay Festival Global to spotlight Black British writers. This inaugural collaboration aimed to amplify diverse voices and perspectives within the literary world. As part of the partnership, BBBF featured writer, rapper, and social enterprise founder Ashleigh Nugent in two interactive poetry sessions at the Hay Festival Hay-on-Wye, held from 23rd May to 2nd June.
BBBF organizers highlighted the unique opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the Welsh countryside and explore nature through Nugent’s engaging live poetry performances. These events aimed to inspire audiences and enrich their writing with a deeper connection to nature.
Selina Brown, founder and CEO of BBBF, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing its role in showcasing underrepresented voices and fostering connections between writers and audiences. Julie Finch, CEO of Hay Festival Global, welcomed BBBF, underscoring the festival’s commitment to inclusivity and diverse literary exchange.
