Encounters with James Baldwin, edited by Cheryl Robson, and Kadija George Sesay includes interviews, essays, memoirs and poetry by 34 writers, scholars, performers and activists who mark the centenary of author and activist, James Baldwin’s birth. Anton Phillips shares his personal memories of meeting James Baldwin and producing his play, Amen Corner Gabriella- Beckles Raymond presents Baldwin – one of the foremost thinkers in the 21 st century on human rights and race, as a genius with moral courage.

Chaired by co-editor, Kadija Sesay and joined by authors Anton Phillips and Gabriella Beckles-Raymond we invite people to ask questions and dialogue with the writers and share their comments, memories and the impact thatBaldwin has had on them and their work.
