Helen Comerford is a Black mixed-race British author who champions diverse narratives, often focusing on characters historically underrepresented in literature. Her work reflects her love for super-powered stories and her commitment to exploring the complexities of teenage life
Ayaan Mohamud wrote her debut novel during the pandemic, combining her experiences as a medical student and her passion for storytelling. She aims to bring Somali culture and issues of Islamophobia into the spotlight, offering a fresh and necessary perspective in the YA genre.
Chair: Georgina Lawton is an author, journalist, and speaker, known for her insightful work on race, identity, and culture. Her memoir, Raceless: In Search of Family, Identity, and the Truth About Where I Belong, explores her personal journey of self-discovery as a mixed-race woman growing up in a white family.
