Our panellists, each a beacon of knowledge and passion, will illuminate diverse perspectives on themes ranging from first civilisations, Black excellence and beyond. Through engaging discussions, personal anecdotes, and scholarly insights, they will uncover hidden histories, challenge misconceptions, and celebrate the resilience and contributions of Black communities worldwide.

Meet our Esteemed Panellists:

Zeinab Badawi: An award-winning broadcaster, journalist, and filmmaker, Zeinab Badawi is President of SOAS University of London and an honorary fellow of St Hilda’s College, Oxford. Born in Sudan, she has had a distinguished career in British media, including roles at Channel 4 News and BBC News. Her new book, “An African History of Africa,” has received international acclaim, with rights deals in over 8 territories. Zeinab is a recipient of the President’s Medal of the British Academy and serves on multiple influential boards, including the United Nations Association UK and the Mandela Institute for Development Studies.

– Robin Walker: Known as ‘The Black History Man,’ Robin Walker is a publisher, educator, and author who has dedicated his career to African World Studies. His seminal work, “When We Ruled,” is a comprehensive synthesis of Ancient and Medieval African history. Walker has authored numerous other influential books, including “Blacks and Science” and “The Rise and Fall of Black Wall Street.” His contributions to Black history and education are widely recognized, making him a leading figure in the field.

Chair: Kayne Kawasak:  An Cultural Theorist and UK Black History Educator from Peckham, South East London. He began his career teaching in secondary schools and now focuses on UK black history, creating popular content on TikTok. Within a year, Kayne has amassed over 900k video views, delivered a TEDx Talk, and consulted for English Heritage, Notting Hill Carnival, and TikTok (featuring in their 2021 BHM Billboard campaign). Kayne has quickly become a go-to voice for factual and historical information on race relations.
