I Am Not Your Negro (2016)

Cinema 1, Level -2 (2 mins from Level 0)
Time: 6pm – 7.30pm

Join the Black British Book Festival in partnership with The New Black Film Collective for a screening of Raoul Peck’s acclaimed documentary I Am Not Your Negro (2016). Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, the film adapts James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House to explore the stories of civil rights icons Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr., framing a searing critique of racism in the United States.

This event offers an urgent moment of reflection: acting both as a lens into Baldwin & original intentions and a mirror to the ongoing struggle for racial justice in Britain and beyond. Whether you’re inspired by literature, film, activism or history—this conversation invites you to engage deeply.

We look forward to welcoming writers, filmmakers, thinkers and activists for an unforgettable evening of storytelling, critical thought and community.
